Steven received his Master of Architecture degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Design in 1986 and spent 7 years at SOM working in Chicago, London and Berlin.

In 1993, he founded his own architecture firm, BBA Architects which he grew with his partner Gary Beyerl, AIA to 17 architects. BBA focuses on high-end, single-family residential projects and continues to thrive today.

In 2007, after 14 years as President of BBA, and working on projects around the globe, Steve sold his interest in BBA and moved full-time into the software company he started a few years earlier to develop ArchiOffice, the popular office and project management software, which he sold to BQE Software in 2010. Steve continued at BQE as Chief Creative Officer for over a decade before selling 60% of his ownership to the Private Equity firm, Serent Capital.

In 2021, Steve acquired two adjacent lots, totaling ~13 acres in one of the prime locations in the Santa Monica Mountains and designed this retreat for his family.
